3 min read

There is always something happening at Eighth Street Community, and the past few weeks have been filled with new beginnings, meaningful connections, and exciting growth. From welcoming new team members and a new resident to celebrating Christmas in July, working alongside incredible volunteers, and continuing to build our Day Program through the Bridge to 100 initiative, we have so much to celebrate.

Welcoming New Team Members

As Eighth Street continues to grow, so does our team. We are excited to welcome new employees who have joined us in our mission of supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Every member of our team plays an important role in creating safe, supportive homes and meaningful opportunities for the individuals we serve. We are grateful for the fresh perspectives, energy, and dedication our newest employees bring to Eighth Street Community.

A New Resident, A New Chapter

One of the most exciting parts of our work is welcoming someone new into the Eighth Street family.

Recently, we welcomed a new resident into one of our homes. Moving into a new home and beginning a new chapter can be a big transition, and our staff and residents have worked together to make that transition as welcoming and comfortable as possible.

At Eighth Street, home means more than having a place to live. It means having a community, building relationships, gaining independence, and having people around you who want to see you succeed.

Christmas in July: A Day Full of Joy

Our Christmas in July celebration was a wonderful day of swimming, fellowship, food, gifts, and plenty of smiles at the Monte Sano pool. We are so thankful to everyone who adopted residents and helped make the day special. Your generosity made our residents feel remembered, valued, and celebrated!

Volunteers Make a Difference

We are incredibly grateful for the volunteers who have recently shared their time and talents with Eighth Street Community. Whether helping with projects, spending time with residents, joining activities, or sharing a meal, our volunteers bring connection and joy to our community.

Thank you to everyone who continues to show up and be part of the Eighth Street family!

Bridge to 100: Growing Opportunities

Our Day Program and Bridge to 100 initiative continue to grow, creating more opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn, connect, and participate in their communities.

Through activities, community outings, life-skills development, and new experiences, our Day Program helps individuals build independence while having fun. Our goal is to expand these opportunities and ultimately serve 100 individuals through Bridge to 100.

We are excited about what is ahead and grateful to everyone helping us grow!
