Whiskey & Wine 2026: An Evening to Remember

3 min read

On September 18, Eighth Street Community welcomed friends, supporters, sponsors, and community partners to our annual Whiskey & Wine fundraiser. Hosted by Lynn Troy and JoAnn Perez, the evening brought together an incredible group of people who believe in our mission and the residents who call Eighth Street home.

The event took place on the rooftop of Redstone Federal Credit Union’s Twickenham Center in downtown Huntsville, creating the perfect setting for an evening of connection and celebration. Guests enjoyed a delicious pig roast dinner, along with custom wine and spirit tastings curated by Matt and Stephanie Mell and the Church Street Wine Family.

Every detail helped make the evening special.

Music by Joel Kisakye set the

tone for the celebration, while florals by Melodie Brier added beautiful touches throughout the rooftop. Alison Jones of The Unscripted Ordinary captured the evening through photography, preserving memories of a night filled with friendship, laughter, and community.

The evening continued with a special VIP after-party at The Library at Purveyor, featuring desserts and additional tastings. Kevin Glouner and Executive Transportation provided rides to and from the after-party, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the evening.

Most importantly, Whiskey & Wine raised meaningful support for Eighth Street Community and the adults with disabilities we serve. These funds help us provide safe homes, opportunities for greater independence, meaningful community involvement, and the support our residents need to thrive. They also help move our Bridge to 100 Initiative forward as we work to expand our reach and create more opportunities for adults with disabilities throughout our community.

To everyone who sponsored a table, attended, donated, volunteered, or helped behind the scenes—thank you. Your generosity makes our work possible every day.

We’ll raise a glass with you again on September 17, 2027. Mark your calendars!

A New Resident, A New Chapter

One of the most exciting parts of our work is welcoming someone new into the Eighth Street family.

Recently, we welcomed a new resident into one of our homes. Moving into a new home and beginning a new chapter can be a big transition, and our staff and residents have worked together to make that transition as welcoming and comfortable as possible.

At Eighth Street, home means more than having a place to live. It means having a community, building relationships, gaining independence, and having people around you who want to see you succeed.
